“It’s the journey, not the destination.”
Life is a journey with a destination. However, the question as important as to what and where the destination will be, is: What are the steps along the journey’s path? It is in these steps that we experience pain and pleasure, trouble and elation, problems and profundities and the heartaches and blessings of life. Each journey is traveled on a path of priorities, decisions, choices, responses, actions and behaviors.
The world would like us to believe that we are what we possess: what it is, how much of it we control, how we acquired it, what it looks like and how we show it off in comparison to others. This is presented and perpetuated to us through endless commercial advertising of what we eat, drink, wear, drive, buy, sell, think and own; how and where we live and above all else, how much it all costs. For those who listen to the world, the destination is irrelevant. They puff up their chests and proclaim their mantra; “He (or she) who dies with the most toys wins.”
For the believer of God’s Word, the destination is already known and accepted, allowing the steps along the path to become the focus of the journey. Spiritually, you are what you believe and how you use that belief to respond. |
